Google searches in the United States, monthly average.
Why it matters
Demand decides which keywords are worth the work.
A page can rank first for a phrase nobody searches and bring no traffic. Checking volume first tells you where the demand is before you spend time on it.
Demand
Size the opportunity
Monthly searches show how many people look for a keyword in the market you serve, not a global average.
Effort
Pick realistic targets
Difficulty next to volume shows which terms are worth a page now and which are out of reach for the moment.
Timing
Publish before the peak
The 12-month trend shows when interest rises and falls, so seasonal content goes live while people are searching.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Keyword search volume is the average number of times a keyword is searched in a month. This tool reports the monthly average for Google searches in the country you select. It counts searches, not people, so one person searching twice counts twice.
Yes. You can run 3 lookups a day without an account, and each lookup can cover up to 20 keywords. If you sign in, each lookup uses 5 credits, and lookups are included on the Scale and Team plans.
The figures come from Google search data supplied by our data provider, DataForSEO. Google reports volumes in rounded ranges and groups close variants of a keyword together, so the numbers are estimates, not exact counts.
Each tool uses its own data sources, refreshes them on its own schedule, and makes its own choices about combining close variants, such as singular and plural forms. Small differences are normal. Use volume to compare keywords with each other inside one tool, not as an exact traffic forecast.
You can check up to 20 keywords per lookup, one per line. Each keyword can be up to 80 characters and 10 words long. Duplicate and blank lines are removed before the check runs.
A keyword shows n/a when there is no Google search data for it in the selected country. This usually means the keyword is very new, very specific, or searched too rarely to measure. Try a shorter or more common phrasing, or check another country.
It depends on your site and your goal. A keyword with 100 searches a month can be worth more than one with 10,000 if the searchers are ready to buy and the competition is low. Read volume together with difficulty and intent instead of chasing the largest number.
The trend shows the search volume for each of the last 12 months of available data. A flat line means steady interest. Regular peaks point to seasonal demand, and a steady climb suggests a growing topic.
Keyword difficulty is a score from 0 to 100 that estimates how hard it is to reach the first page of Google's organic results. CPC is the average amount advertisers pay for a click on a Google ad for that keyword, in US dollars. Competition describes how many advertisers bid on the keyword, shown as low, medium or high. It does not measure organic competition.
Yes. Choose a country before you run the check. Each lookup covers one country, so run the same list again with another country selected to compare markets.
