Why it matters
Your search rivals are not always the ones you expect.
Any site that ranks for your keywords takes clicks you could have had, whether or not it sells what you sell. Knowing who they are tells you who to study and where you can win.
Rivals
See who ranks next to you
The list comes from ranking data, so it includes the blogs, publishers and tools that compete for your keywords without competing for your customers.
Size
Measure each competitor
Ranking keywords and estimated traffic show which sites are far ahead and which are within reach.
Focus
Pick who to learn from
A high keyword overlap means a site covers the same topics you do. Start with those, then look at what they rank for.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
It is a tool that shows which websites compete with yours in organic search. This one takes your domain, finds the sites that rank in Google for the same keywords, and compares each of them with you on shared keywords, total ranking keywords, estimated organic traffic and average position.
Yes. You can run 3 lookups a day without an account. If you sign in, each lookup uses 5 credits, and lookups are included on the Scale and Team plans.
It looks at the keywords your domain ranks for in Google's organic results in the country you choose, then finds the other domains ranking for those same keywords. The more keywords a site shares with you, the higher it appears in the list.
A search competitor is any site that ranks for the keywords you rank for, whether or not it sells what you sell. Blogs, publishers, directories and software tools often compete for your keywords without competing for your customers. Both kinds matter, because each one takes clicks you could have had.
Shared keywords are the search terms that both your site and the competitor rank for in the chosen country. The keyword overlap column shows that number as a share of all the keywords your site ranks for, so 40% means the competitor ranks for 40% of your keywords.
They are estimates. Estimated monthly traffic is modeled from each keyword's search volume and the position the site holds for it, and it covers organic Google search only. Use it to compare sites with each other, and rely on your own analytics for your exact visits.
It is the competitor's average Google ranking across the keywords it shares with you. A lower number is better. A competitor with many shared keywords and a low average position is outranking you on most of the terms you both target.
Up to 20, ordered by the number of keywords they share with you. Very large general sites such as Wikipedia, YouTube and Reddit are left out, because they rank for almost everything and would crowd out the competitors that are relevant to you.
This usually means the domain does not rank for enough keywords in the selected country yet, which is common for new sites. Try the country where most of your visitors are, or check that you entered the main domain and not a single page.
Pick the competitors closest to you in size and look at what they rank for. The competitor keywords tool lists the keywords a single domain ranks for, with search volume and position, so you can find terms worth targeting on your own site.
